Experts on Swiss author Klaus Merz’s oevure select texts for an audiobook-anthology with poems, prose and essays of Merz. The meeting of the editors of the audiobook, at which they present their favourites, argue for them and take part in a real Merz-debate is at the center of the film. Actor Robert Hunger-Bühler gives insight into the normal, surreal and unfathomable of Klaus Merz’s poems and prose. His reading of the texts meanders through the whole film and reaches Klaus Merz at home and on the road in Wynental, his home in Aargau. It intercepts the accounts of the authors and thus illustrates what Peter von Matt defined with the word “Merzluft” during his laudatio for the Gottfried-Keller-Preis:
“Thus, Klaus Merz throws his readers from the close to the far away, and from far away to the closest. The movement, the leap is always there, it opens up and lets air in: Merz-air (Merzluft)”.
